Life Lately

{Life Lately}

Summer is just flying by...here's a little about what we've had going on!

Yes. This happened.
We traded in my beloved GMC Terrain for a Honda Odyssey Touring. My 16 year old self SWORE I would never drive a minivan, but I couldn't be more excited for more space and convenience. Love!

One day at library story time- Nathan found a Caillou book and was SO excited. He took it right over to the table and started "reading" it.

#bookworm

I took the boys to visit Great Grandpa

We played in the dirt and we found worms #ew

Our college friends came to visit. It had been a YEAR since we saw them last because life has been so busy. Last time we saw them I had just found out I was pregnant with B and they had just had their second baby. Time flies!

Here are our first born babies! We both named them after characters in our favorite show when we are in high school/college, "One Tree Hill". I can't believe I just admitted that.

I got brave and took both kids with me to get Nathan a haircut. There was definitely a time when Bryce was first born that I thought I'd never be able to handle both of them in public...but we're doing it!

"Smile and I'll let you have a lolly pop". yep.

My mother in law watched the boys for me one morning so I could run some errands. She sent me this picture of B sleeping in his mamroo. Seriously. 5 months. He looks so big.

Friday morning E was home for the holiday weekend! He ran off to the driving range and I took these hooligans on a nice long walk. #icanteven

My sweet cousin Paige sent me this side by side of Nathan and Bryce that she made. Both are about 5 months. I can't believe how different they look! #heartbreakers

We kept it low-key for 4th of july! Bryce is too young for fireworks..so we took the boys to the town center for an afternoon treat and to Nathan got to get out some energy.

We put the kids to bed and headed outside for Date night on the deck! We love it out there!

Sunday we are off to the beach for the week! Can't wait!

...On Fathers Day

Father's Day has always been a little depressing for this girl, whose father never wanted to be a daddy. His "every other weekends" turned into "every other month" and then "every other..never". It hurts a little more now that I have kids. I prayed that when I did have a family of my own, that... It would be different. God didn't disappoint.
I have said for years.. That God gave me Eric, because I suffered for so many years.

On September 12, 2012 I watched the most incredible thing happen. My Eric...Became a Daddy.

It has been amazing seeing him with our babies. He's my partner in parenting, a midnight feeding, diaper changing, "one more tuck in", boo boo kissing, "last book daddy", SUPER DAD. He does the perfect swaddle. He plays the perfect game of catch.
He works hard and gives us his all.
He loves BIG.
and we are so lucky that he's ours.

Happy Father's Day, E! We love you so..

Weekend Wrap Up

Here is our weekend in pics!

{Thursday} #itskindofaweekendday

Last day of 2 year old Preschool!

This was a bonus year of preschool for Nathan. He turned 2 the first week of preschool but I happened to find out about this wonderful in home preschool and I know it was going to be great for him to have a structured environment to learn and play.
First and Last Day of School
I can't believe how much older he looks!
#uglycry
Ms. Megan and Ms. Jenn.
Nathan loves them so much! These two were amazingly patient with my wild child. They have the perfect personalities to spend the day with seven 2 year olds. God bless them!

Nathan got the "most sociable" award

Ms. Megan gave each student a special book and wrote a special note for them inside. It was so sweet. "5 Little Monkeys"

He really is a monkey. #buthesmymonkey

Megan always shared with me his special gifts and talents and that made my mommy heart happy. We will miss Ms. Megan horribly next year!

Class picture. #melt

Nathan and his 3 classmates all became older siblings!

{Saturday}
Last day of soccer.

Uncle Brett came to play!

Nathan showing off his certificate

Saturday Afternoon we went to Eric's cousin Conner's high school graduation party! Eric and I divided up and he chased Nathan around and I lugged Bryce around.

Hanging out with Uncle Josh
I took Bryce into the office to try and put him to sleep. He was thrilled #obv

Saturday night we were so exhausted from such a full day that we stayed in for date night
#theperfectsummermeal

{Sunday}
Mommy-Nathan Date at Target. Nathan brought his "shopping list" and kept telling me we needed to get"snacks and things"

Sunday afternoon we spent celebrating London Olivia's baptism! I forgot to take pictures..but girlie looked beautiful in her white dress!
And of course there is no other appropriate gift then one in a Nords box. #amen

Sunday evening I was off to work. This was my last sunday evening shift- I'm heading back to night shift and will be working every Friday night #prayforme.

Weekend Wrap Up

{Our weekend in photos}

Saturday after soccer I made the boys do a little photoshoot. Bryce is doing great sitting up assisted, so this was the first time he could sit up in Nathan's lap.

Here are some of the "out takes"
"Sayyyyy Ice Cream"

"Stop Licking Bryce"
And a little sweetness 😍

Saturday afternoon we spent doing some sweat-equity. We've spent almost every weekend in the yard cleaning out the overgrowth from the previous owners.

Nathan insisted that he wear the baby's bucket hat.. And kept calling it his "garden hat"
The boy loves a "lad-ler"

Here's Eric and my mother in law doing some serious manual labor...

And I'm sure you're wondering where I was during all of this work. #seebelow

I parked it in the shade on a blanket and claimed that someone had to entertain the babes #itsatoughjob #butsomeonesgottadoit

Grandpa Joe brought us some tomato plants for our garden. I'm new to this whole gardening thing, so I totally expect to kill everything this year
... But mark my words. By 2016 the Smialeks will be living off the land

#notachance

Saturday Night my in-laws stayed around so we could go out for a DATE NIGHT

Here's a little OOTD #googlethat

My girlfriend recommended this top from Nords and I bought it in every color. It's perfect for summer and has the perfect amount of flow for that post-partum bod.

We went to a place downtown with some live music... And lots of tie dye.

#whatnottowear
#hopehedoesntreadmyblog

On our walk back to our car one of the old buildings downtown was on fire.. So naturally.. we watched all the action

... And I stood there wondering where I could get Eric one of these uniforms. #yesidid

Sunday we went to the Ashburn fire departments pancake breakfast. Eric's grandma volunteers at the breakfast and they do a great job with a craft for the kids. Nathan loves getting to climb up on the fire truck!

Bryce Thomas: 4 Months

Time is flying with this sweet boy!

Bryce is 4 months: 16 lbs and 26.4 inches. Growing so well and a healthy guy!

#thatbodtho

He is a great sleeper #canigetanamen
We put him down about 7pm, wake him up for a dream feed at 10pm and then he wakes up between 5:30-6am.
He is pretty predictable and spends lots of time watching his big brother run around and smiling!

{Bryce Loves}
Being outside
The Mamaroo
His Wubbanub
Bath Time
Sitting up and watching people

Nathan calls him "Bryce-ee" and it melts me every time.
